Kumquat, also known locally as kamkat, is the smallest and most elegant member of the citrus family.
Kumquat, also known locally as kamkat, is the smallest and most elegant member of the citrus family. Distinguished as the only citrus fruit that can be eaten with its peel, kumquat has become an increasingly valuable crop in Turkey, especially in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions. Baysar Agro carefully selects the freshest and most aromatic kumquats for its customers. Because kumquat is consumed with its peel, it is much richer than many other citrus fruits in fiber, antioxidants and essential oils. It contains vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium and calcium.
Kumquat can be eaten fresh with its peel and is also used in jams, marmalades, confectionery and liqueurs. It is sliced into salads, used as a sauce component in meat dishes and preferred for dessert decoration. Dried kumquat adds a distinctive aroma to teas and baked goods.
